Update! Ver .6 is here!

This update comes with some slight bug fixes but also lots of changes after some feedback in level design for clarity.

Gameplay Changes:

  • Added a brand new level immediately after the 4th level.
  • Adjusted the First level to more clearly illustrate the mechanic I wanted to teach, and make it easier to clear without it.
  • The player now has a little thingy that trails them as they walk around.
  • Whenever clearing a level through a gold gate, you gain a little thingy and extends the trail!
  • Added new animated sprites for the teleporters to more clearly illustrate what they are and when they're active!

Mechanical Changes:

A lot of the way things work were changed to accommodate the newly added moving platforms. After trying to implement those, I realized through a tutorial, most things could be done in the same way, using little beacons that run their own code for where certain pointers needed to be placed. These changes affect mainly teleporters but makes them way easier to work with than before.

Some things were changed to better work with room resets or game failed states (hitting spikes or falling off an edge), for instance activated switches won't reset but platforms which were moved will be back to their default location.

End Thoughts:

All of the work in this update has been done for over 3 weeks but I'd been waiting to make more substantial changes, even including an unfinished level (that's in the game) to make a total of 2 new ones, however making the new level hit me with a wave of BLEH so I hadn't finished it, and thus let this sit for so long. I didn't want to do that, have this sitting for another week when I can push what I have out. Hopefully this improves the motivation to finish that new level and the updates to come with it! Please look forward to it.

Next goal:

A new level!

Some menus (hopefully).
